Barack Obama 8.28.08

Can I just say, as many have already stated, that Obama’s speech- on the 40th anniversary of MLK…amazing.

Here is his speech.

And here it is in text. Enjoy!

A long day

We lost two of our kids today in the PICU. One was only seven months and the other was a mere three weeks.

I didn’t know the latter too well, but the former- I loved him. He was the sweetest baby with the softest hair. I loved going in and letting him hold my fingers and wave them about.

It was a long day.

On another note:

McCain has picked the governor of Alaska to be his VP. Ridiculous. He only chose her because she’s a woman. I keep hearing around work how people like Obama but are a little scared. Scared of what? Change? Bull. Anyone who has heard or even read transcripts of his speeches would hear the hope in those words. He is the only one to touch on abortion, gun rights, and gay rights. Every President-to-be spouts off ideas folr change, but none actually outline in complete detail how that change is going to be brought about.

Until now. McCain chose a woman who, fairly enough has a compelling history, has no real experience in running this country. A man who is 72 and has had cancer on four seperate occasions should not have chosen a governor in her first term to make his case. There’s a difference between a young, optimistic hope like Obama’s and then young inexperience such as Palin’s.

I mean, really.

Tomorrow I send off my paper which allows me to register to vote for the first time ever. Hoorah! Don’t forget to register yourself- it truly is important.

So I am sitting at my desk in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. Today is going to be a busy day I can tell with at least 3 kids transferring out and four coming in. And my co-worker is not in the best of spirits today. Whatever the reason, it caused her to be a half hour late today which means that she probably wont be in a good mood for awhile. Le blah.

Isaac had a really cool idea for a website. So hopefully we’ll be able to put that into effect sometime in the near future. I really dug it!

Alright, I’m off to sign orders, balance my checkbook, and squeeze in some homework.

On another note: Barack Obama is the definition of hope for this country. More later!

Ahh, so I just woke up about an hour ago and am getting ready for the day. Need to accomplish my homework, taking my old desktop to my Great-Grandmother’s house, finish the laundry so it doesnt get musty in the washer, fix dinner as Isaac and I both have class tonight from six to ten.

And now, I have to fix Isaac. Well, I can’t really. That’s not possible unfortuanately. So, his dad has high blood pressure and heart things and I totally just fucked with his head not on purpose. I was explaining the realities of high BP and whatnot and he was already frustrated at his dad for not going to the gym. I think my “realities” did not make things any better.

Which leaves me in a pickle. Of wanting to kiss the boo boo and make everything bad melt away, and I can’t.

Damn it.

Alright, homework calls. Oh US History.

This blog is going to document the trials and tribulations of being a married teenager while working full time and attending nursing school.

It’s about life, love, and the lessons that come along with the two.

And hopefully, I will give myself some clarification and perhaps help someone gain clarity as well.

New Beginnings?

A fresh blog, a fresh approach.

“The beginning is the most important part” ~Plato

To start off I guess I’ll let you know a little bit more about myself. If you hit that nifty link to the right “Behind the Keyboard” that should give you the basics. But there isn’t too much excitement in basics.

So I’ll start off with a little “About Me” Q&A and will get more on track another time.

—3 minutes later—

Alright, I hate to do this, but I fibbed about the Q&A. I originally typed in About Me Quiz into the Google toolbar and nothing came up except for thousands upon thousands of quizzes to plug into your Myspace. I mean, really?! The idea that there are that many quizzes to plug into your profile is absurd! You can only show viewers that your favorite color is red (which mine is) or that your favorite animal is a turtle (also a true statement) so many times.

So a list will be better?
